조경학은 자연과학, 인문사회과학, 공학, 예술분야를 망라한 종합과학예술입니다. 조경학의 활동영역은 소규모 정원, 공공정원, 가로, 광장, 도심공원, 주택단지, 관광휴양지 등의 계획, 설계 및 시공에서부터 국토자연 및 도시환경, 광역 지역 등의 종합 계획 및 관리까지 다양합니다.

 

성균관대학교 조경학과 대학원에서는 21세기 전 세계의 국토환경을 계획, 설계, 관리할 수 있는 땅에 대한 전문가를 양성하고자 이론, 계획, 설계, 시공 및 관리에 대한 지식을 조화롭게 습득할 수 있는 강의를 제공합니다. 또한, 본 대학원에서는 식물실험실, 생태실습실, 제도실, 계획 및 설계 스투디오, 컴퓨터 실습실 등 다양한 실험실습실을 운영하고 있습니다.

대학원 과정을 통해 학생들은 스스로 문제를 해결하는 능력을 기르게 되며 졸업 후 다양한 방면으로 진출하여 조경분야를 선도할 수 있는 인재로 거듭납니다. 정원, 공원, 단지 등을 설계하는 조경설계가, 국토자연, 도시, 지역 차원의 종합적인 계획을 담당하는 조경계획가, 공원녹지·도시경관 또는 도시재생 등 관련 행정을 이끌어가는 정부 부처 공무원, 조경 관련 연구기관의 연구원이나  조경가를 양성하는 교수 등으로 활동하며 조경의 가치를 증진시키고 사회적 역할을 수행합니다.

Landscape architecture is a comprehensive science art covering natural science, humanities and social sciences, engineering and arts. Landscape architecture activities range from designing, planning and construction of small-scale gardens, public gardens, street scapes, squares, urban parks, housing complexes and tourist resorts to planning and management of land, nature and urban environments, and metropolitan areas.

 

The Landscape Architecture program at Sungkyunkwan University provides lectures on theory, planning, design, construction and management in order to train experts on land that can plan, design, and manage the environment of the world in the 21st century. Also, there are landscape ecology laboratory, drawing laboratory, landscape planning and design studios, computer laboratory and other facilities for practices in the department.

Through graduate programs, students could raise problem-solving ability with knowledge obtained through theories and practices. After graduation, students will be able to lead the sphere of landscape architecture by engaing in various fields: landscape designers who design gardens, parks, complexes and so on, landscape planners who deal with comprehensive landscapes in the entire country, city, and regional and local level, government officials who lead related administrative affairs such as urban landscapes and regeneration,  researchers at various institutes or professors who cultivate future landscape professionals. All will promote the value of landscape architecture and take a social role of it.
